Study smart and stress less with these great tips!
Study in 15-20 minute intervals. Take short breaks to give yourself a chance to rest and refresh between study sessions.
Alternate where you study. Sometimes a change in scenery can refresh you and help to re-engage you in the material.
Listen to non-lyrical music while you study.
Attend study groups and study with others.
Imagine yourself performing well on the exam.
Take a 20 minute break to exercise.
Set a study schedule for yourself, and stick to it.
Talk to your teachers and ask for their input on study strategies : Where do you need to focus? What concepts do you seem to have the most trouble with? Focus on the areas that need the most work and review.
Make flashcards for key terms.
Try explaining key concepts and terms to another person. The act of talking about an idea can actually increase your understanding of it.
Spend less time on what you know, and more time on what is difficult or unfamiliar to you.
Read the material and take short notes (bulletpoints are great) then review those notes.
Test yourself. Check your text book for example questions and see whether you can answer them.
Eat properly before a test. Studies show that people who eat a nutritious meal before a test perform better, so make sure to have a good breakfast on test day. What works best? Water, oatmeal, bananas, apples, leafy greens, and protein (found in eggs, meat, nuts, etc.).
